My Media Experience!

Untitled design (5).png

Nobody likes sitting in traffic unless you’re programming a TV station! Scheduling content between TV shows requires a lot of logistical thinking and it is one of my most favorite aspects of my job.

I work for a TV station, of course I know what it takes to create a high-quality broadcast video!

I am a certified social media strategist! I am a wizard of engaging audiences on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and TikTok.

I was once that “crazy guy” on the radio, so I would say I know a thing or two about audio! I can make just about anything sound like a million bucks, just give me an hour and Adobe Audition

There is a lot to see on top of the inverted pyramid! In a world where fake news exists, it is my personal mission to be a valuable source of information.

Photographing the world is an amazing attribute that I can bring to the table! Through the eye of a photographic lens, I can showcase anything from your good side to the most beautiful of landscapes.

Traffic

Working at KMOS-TV, the PBS affiliate for Central Missouri has given me the opportunity to use TV scheduling software ProTrack to generate program logs and schedule break components between programming. Through my experience, I compile topic reports for programming and report aired program schedules to Nielson.  While working in the traffic I work closely with top industry professionals including PTPA's 2022 programmer of the year.  My Success story is scheduling a recurring promotional spot that brought children and adults alike out for the award winning KMOS Adventure Day. During my time working in Traffic at KMOS, I won the 2023 Outstanding Programming Student Award.

Video

Working for PBS affiliate KMOS-TV, I have been able to be behind the scenes for a variety of programming. My work has been seen on pre-election debates, live pledge programming events, and even the creation of a documentary telling of a small-town disaster. Through my course work I have also filled various roles at live sporting events such as football, soccer and volleyball.

This Documentary tells the story of the small town of Mendon MO who helped in the aftermath of an Amtrak Derailment. The winner of the 2023 Best KMOS - PBS Documentary award, this story goes in depth of how a rural community reacts to a disaster. I served as Director, Editor, and Producer for this documentary.
This video is the full length 2022 midterm election Missouri State Treasure Debate conducted by This Week In Missouri Politics. The debate aired on Mid Missouri's KMOS PBS and St. Louis' ABC 30. I played the role of Technical Director for the debate.

Social Media

Using social media management platforms such as Hootsuite I can write posts and engage with audiences on whatever platforms they are on. Using Canva, I have created cutting edge graphics to include with my social media posts. Please check out some samples of my posts and social media content graphics that I created as a Peer Mentor at State Fair Community College - Clinton.

Audio

I came to television from radio. I worked in the radio industry for 3 years. 2 years were spent at KMMO-AM/FM Marshall Mo prior to that KMZU-FM/KRLI-FM Carrolton. My time at KMMO included hosting a regular air shift, board operating live events such as remotes and sporting events, and filling in where needed. My time at KMMO was spent ensuring the station stayed on air, playing music, and introducing topics and songs. I was a part of KMMO during the Covid – 19 Pandemic when it was crucial to keep listeners informed of new developments.

Journalism

Through my coursework at both University of Central Missouri and State Fair Community College, I have been able to cover some interesting topics through the eyes of print journalism. One of my best stories tells of a beloved elementary custodian making the return to work after being sick for months following Covid-19 Complications. Another story that I am proud of is based Amtrak's Missouri River Runner, and the complications the train faces including delays and cancelations related to funding from the Missouri Legislature.

Photography

They say a picture is worth a thousand words! Using a combination of my high-quality phone camera and a Canon T5i, I have been able to capture some very interesting photos that can tell a great story. I have been able to capture some of the most beautiful aspects in both the world around me, and my travels to new places.
